If you have not received a logon to the control panel for your account you will very soon, but in the mean time if you need something taken care of right away please contact our support department at support@dynamicbydesign.com. Those of you have already gotten a login but have questions you also should contact our support department.

Some of the biggest differences are the introduction to what's called a Hosting Space. Those with multiple domains in their account will find it easier to maintain those domains by only needing one FTP account for the management of them.

Other differences are ftp user logons. Previously users FTP logons were user@domain.com but now they will be user@DotNetPanel. There are both some advantages and disadvantages to this but we feel the advantages far outway the disadvantages right now but depending on feedback we could go back to the old user style or drop the @DotNetPanel all together. Another thing that is different is Email Aliases are called Groups in DNP, and Email Forwards are not what you think of as an Email Alias.

Multiple Packages

User is not limited with a single package. He can be assigned with as many hosting packages as he needs. User can switch between his packages with a single click and can check hosting quotas for each package.

Peer User Accounts

User can allow his friends or co-workers managing hosting resources by creating peer user accounts.

Web Applications Installer

Using Web Applications Installer such applications as DotNetNuke, CommunityServer, Starter Kits and others can be installed with a single click. Web Applications Installer has an extensible architecture that allows administrator to add additional installation packages.

Audit Log

User has a read-only access to his audit log where all operations with web sites, FTP accounts, databases, etc. are tracked.

Bandwidth Report

User can control his packages bandwidth consumption by using integrated Bandwidth Report. The report data is broken down by resource groups (Web, FTP, Mail, etc.).

Diskspace Report

User can control his packages disk space by using integrated Disk space Report. The report data is broken down by resource groups (Web, FTP, Mail, SQL, etc.)

View IP Addresses

User can view IP addresses assigned to him by his reseller or administrator. Those IP addresses can be used for creating web sites with static IP.

Manage Domains/Subdomains

DotNetPanel doesn't make difference between domains or sub-domains. User can also add a free sub-domain provided by his reseller. Web sites then can be created under both domains and sub-domains.

Manage Domain Aliases

User can add an alias for the existing domain/sub-domain. User can also add a free sub-domain alias provided by his reseller.

Temporary Domain

Each created domain has a temporary domain (alias) in format specified by the reseller which allows user to access web sites, FTP, mail prior to DNS provisioning.

Manage Web Sites

User can add/edit/delete web sites with shared or static IP. User can edit site's default documents, error pages, security settings, HTTP redirections. The site can be started/stopped/paused.

Manage Virtual Directories

User can add/edit/delete virtual directories under the specified web site. Each virtual directory has the same properties set as the web site!

Manage MIME Types

MIME types can be specified for each web site or virtual directory.

Manage Default Documents

Default documents can be specified for each web site or virtual directory.

Manage Custom Error Pages

Custom error pages can be specified for each web site or virtual directory.

FrontPage Extensions

User can install/uninstall FrontPage extensions under any web site.

Change Web Site or Virtual Directory location

User can dynamically change the root folder of any existing web site or virtual directory or make HTTP redirect.

Manage FTP Accounts

Administrators, resellers and users can add/edit/delete FTP accounts. You can specify read/write permissions for your FTP account. Since all package's web sites are stored in a single folder you can use only a single FTP account to manage your web sites!

Manage Mailboxes

Administrators, resellers and users can add/edit/delete mail boxes. DotNetPanel exposes the maximum set of properties of the underlying mail server!

Manage Mail Forwardings

Administrators, resellers and users can add/edit/delete mail forwardings allowing you just to redirect the correspondence to some external mailbox.

Manage Mail Groups

Administrators, resellers and users can add/edit/delete mail groups which allows you to organize small one-way mailing lists.

Manage Mailing Lists

Administrators, resellers and users can add/edit/delete fully-functional mailing lists! Almost all list properties are reflected in DotNetPanel interface!

Manage Databases and User Logins

Administrators, resellers and users can add/edit/delete databases. DotNetPanel supports MS Access, SQL Server and MySQL database engines! SQL Server and MySQL user logins can be managed separately from databases. That means you can assign a single user account to a multiple databases!

Databases Backup/Restore

User can backup/restore his database without any help! Backup/restore tools support BAK, zipped BAK (uploaded via HTTP and stored locally) and SQL scripts.

Manage Advanced Statistics

Administrators, resellers and users can install/uninstall advanced statistics support for any web site! Advanced statistics analyzes web logs and provides detailed reports about web site visitors.

Manage Operating System Users and Groups

Administrators, resellers and users can add/edit/remove operating system user accounts and groups. Those users and groups can be used in different applications like SharePoint Services, SQL Server Reporting Services, etc. as well as used for securing web site folders/files.

Manage Folders and Files

Very powerful File Browser will allow you to completely forget about FTP. It includes zip/unzip operations in addition to other standard ones such as copying/moving files, creating files/folders, deleting files/folders. It introduces “zip – deploy – unzip” paradigm that allows you to deploy applications quickly and easily without using of FTP. It is a geed news for users who staying behind the firewall and can't use FTP protocol! File Browser doesn't require any special network settings to work with it.

Control Panel Update - Parallels Helm 4.1.1 Now Installed

Helm 4.1.1 Introduces support for the APS standard, an application packaging standard that allows to extend the hosting offerings with more than 150 applications, additional features has been also included and the stability of Helm improved.

New Features:

APS Controller, which enables provisioning APS applications: Thanks to this new feature service providers can include in their server offerings hundreds of applications packaged with APS Standard, the list of available applications can be obtained from APS Standard catalog on this link.

Added ability to set default login language other than English.
To set default CP language:
1. Go to Helm System > Control Panel Settings page.
2. Select a default language next to the Language.
3. Save changes.

Added possibility to test notifications without sending them to customers directly. The Test and save button was added to the Edit Action Notification Template page. If you click this button, the notification will be saved and sent to the current account. Notifications of Child Created Customer and Delete Customer type cannot be tested because of their specific characteristics.

Added possibility to create virtual directory which points to physical directory outside of site document root. This directory can be shared between different virtual hosts. To create a virtual directory:
1. Go to Add Plan Template.
2. Specify the template name and template resources.
3. Save the template.
4. On the page that appears, click Add in the Provisioning Method section.
5. Choose the Create Physical Virtual Directory method from the drop-down box.
6. Specify Folder to point to property.
Virtual directory created this way cannot be removed from a Virtual Directories page of a domain.

For IIS 7 providers added possibility to switch between x64 and x32 mode for the particular application pool. It means that you can configure some application pool(s) to work in x32 while other will be in x64 at the same time. To specify the mode:
1. Go to My Domains > <Domain Name> > Advanced Website Options > Website Settings page.
2. Choose the Application Pool tab.
3. On the page that appears in the Bittness combo box, choose the x32 or x64 mode. If you see the Unknown/Not applicable value, it means that your backend system doesn't support the bittness option.
4. Click Save.

Implemented an option to enable/disable write permissions under customer’s home directory which means the ability of anonymous user to make write changes (create files or directories, modify existing files) in a particular domain directory tree. To enable/disable write permissions for a particular domain:
1. Go to My Domains > <Domain Name> > Advanced Website Options > Website Settings page.
2. Choose the Options tab.
3. Check/uncheck the Grant "Write" access for Anonymous User box.

Added an option of choosing a Database name prefix property for MSSQL or MySQL service. Now it is possible to choose between the following database name prefixes:
* Nothing - no prefix will be used during database creation.
* DomainName - domain name will be used as a prefix during database creation. Dots in the domain name will be replaced with an underscore symbol in the prefix.
* AccountName - account name will be added as a prefix during database creation.

Changing this value does not affect existing databases. The Database Name Prefix option can be controlled by admin/reseller only (user has no possibility to choose how the database will be created). For existing database services, admin/reseller should perform the Save action to propagate new service settings into database (even if it wasn’t changed).

Added control over Enable POP retrieval option for SmarterMail mail server which will allow you to access email on another mail server through SmarterMail. To enable SmarterMail POP Retrieval:
1. Go to SmarterMail Provider Services page.
2. Enter necessary Custom Domain Properties (semicolon delimited key/value pairs) which will be passed as custom properties to SmarterMail server when SmarterMail service is enabled for a particular domain. By default the value is set to "enablepopretrieval=True". For a complete list of supported properties, refer to SmarterMail documentation.
3. Save the changes.

The behavior can be controlled only by admin/reseller. For existing SmarterMail services, admin/reseller should perform the Save action to propagate new service settings into Helm database (even if it was not changed). There is no way to enable Pop Retrieval feature for existing domains in Helm without re-enabling the mail service.

Introduced Shared data processing into Overusage Notification engine. To configure your Parallels Helm to process Shared Data:
1. Go to Account Settings > Action Notifications page.
2. On the page that appears, create new or edit an exisitng Overusage notification.
3. Check the Process Shared data box on the Generic tab of the Edit Action Notification Template page.
4. Go to the Internal Notification tab and change the following values:
* [$PackageLimit.Value] to [$PackageLimit.SharedValue]
* [$PackageLimit.UsagePercent] to [$PackageLimit.SharedUsagePercent].
5. Save the changes.

Improvements:

Added MySQL 5.1 support.

Added ability to stop uploading files if reaching disk space limit for GeneFTP providers.

Merak disk space and bandwidth usage are included in statistics.

Issues Fixed:

Fixed problem with Helm API and Turkish locale.

Fixed bug with creating an Email Alias that has all numeric values preceeding the "@" symbol in an email address.

Fixed problem with IIS password on IIS 6.

Fixed problem with unassigning Module in License Web Services.

Fixed problem with MySQL5 on a port different from the standard.

Fixed problem with tag text and CSS styling in the HTML field for notification.

Fixed problem with backup DNS after re-enabling DNS.

Fixed problem with FP extensions and "Integrated Windows Authentication".

Fixed problem with creating domains using Simple DNS.

Fixed the System Diskspace and Bandwidth Tasks error handling.

Fixed bug with admin level permissions under reseller account.

Fixed wording and behaviour of SQL Server dbo option.

Fixed bug with empty resource list in the package.

Fixed creating subdomain problem when Simple DNS is used.

Fixed server logs deletion.

Bugfixes and improvements: A number of issues reported by the customers, detected by support team and discovered on QA stage were fixed, multiple other bugfixes and improvements were made.
